  • Noted Tamil actor and theatre artist Balasingh died following brief illness, the South Indian Artistes’ Association said.
  • Balasingh (67) was not keeping well for sometime and breathed his last at a hospital this morning, SIAA said in a release and condoled his demise.
  • A renowned actor, he made his debut in M Nasser-directed ‘Avatharam’ and went on to feature in many films, donning a variety of roles including those with negative shades.

5. Royal Aeronautical Society honour for DRDO chief G Satheesh Reddy

6. ISRO has built ‘Vikram’ processor to guide future rockets

  • ISRO has designed and built a processor named “Vikram”, which will be used in all future Indian rockets to guide and control them.
  • The Vikram Processor guided the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-C47 (PSLV-C47) rocket, which carried India’s Earth-imaging satellite ‘Cartosat-3’.
  • It was the first time the indigenously designed processor was used in PSLV-C47 rocket.
  • India has two family of rocketsPSLV and Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV). The ISRO is also developing a Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) with a capacity to carry 500 kg satellites.

9. World Squash Federation appoint Louis-Marie as chief executive

  • Former International Boxing Association (AIBA) executive director William Louis-Marie has been appointed the new chief executive of the World Squash Federation (WSF).
