7.  RBI Monetary Policy: Repo Rate unchanged, GDP growth forecast lowered

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released its fifth bi-monthly monetary policy statement for 2019-20 in which the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), led by Governor Shaktikanta Das, decided to keep the policy repo rate unchanged at 5.15%.
  • In 2019, the RBI has cut repo rate by 135 basis points so far to a nine-year low of 5.15%.
  • Analysts were expecting another 25 basis points cut.
  • RBI has also lowered its GDP growth forecast to 5%

8. India gifts patrol vessel to Maldives as net security provider of region

  • In a big push towards ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, India handed over a ‘Made in India’ patrol vessel to the Maldives and launched the RuPay card during a video conference between PM Narendra Modi and Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

10. Mumbai Central gets first ‘Eat Right Station’ certification from FSSAI

  • The Mumbai Central station of Railways was conferred with the ‘Eat Right Station’ certification with four stars rating by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), as a part of ‘Eat Right India’ movement launched last year.
